WELCOME TO VISITING FACULTY: UR SHLONSKY AND GORKA ELORDIETA

  • Please welcome our two Visiting Linguistics Faculty:
  1. Professor Ur Shlonsky, Univ. of Genève, Switzerland. Ur’s work focuses on syntactic theory and comparative syntax, with a particular focus on Semitic and Romance languages.  During his stay in Santa Cruz, which extends through mid-October 2018, Ur is co-teaching a Syntax Seminar entitled “Hierarchies in Syntax” with Maziar Toosarvandani.
  2. Professor Gorka Elordieta, Univ. of Basque Country, Spain. Gorka’s work includes investigations of phonology and phonetics, with a focus on prosody, Basque, and Romance languages. He will be working in the department for the full 2018-2019 academic year.
