HOFMANN, VINCENT, KAPLAN @ LASC

This Saturday, the department hosted the most recent installment of our annual conference showcasing the department’s research, Linguistics at Santa Cruz (LASC). This year, the conference featured presentations by two current PhD candidates, Lisa Hofmann and Jake Vincent, as well as a featured talk by PhD alum Aaron Kaplan (Utah).

Jake’s talk was titled “Explaining variation in the acceptability of relative clause island violations.” Lisa’s talk followed, titled “The anaphoric potential of indefinites under negation and disjunction.” Aaron concluded the day with a talk titled “Harmonic bounding in (noisy) harmonic grammar,” before attendees convened at the Cowell provost house for a reception and dinner as the sun set.

Many thanks to the staff and graduate students who helped make this event possible. Photos will be available soon at this link.
