Nido de Lenguas, a partnership between Senderos and the Workshop on the Languages of Meso-America (WLMA) sponsored by The Humanities Institute (THI), was featured in this recent article in the UC Santa Cruz magazine.
The article particularly highlights the work of our own Maziar Toosarvandani and Kelsey Sasaki. Kelsey has been working closely with Senderos and adapting operations for the Covid-19 context this year.
Mykel Brinkerhoff was invited to join the Tell Me A Story live stream on Youtube to talk about linguistics and what is it that linguists do. The recording of this interview can be found here.
This Friday, Dr. Kathryn Davidson (Harvard) will give the second colloquium talk of our spring quarter, titled “Dynamic signing space, pronouns, and continuous disambiguation”. The talk will take place on Friday, 04/09, at 1:20 pm via Zoom (Stay tuned for the Zoom and talk information!).
The spring colloquium was kicked off with Dr. Ora Matushansky‘s (CNRS) presentation on the case of French places (04/02, Friday).
MRG had their scheduling meeting on Wednesday, 03/31. They also talked about morphological problems in Zapotec using this note.
For the meeting this week (Wednesday, 04/07, at 11 am, Zoom link), they will discuss Operstein(2017), ‘Suppletion in Zapotec.’
