ALUMNUS REPORT: CHRIS POTTS

Alum Chris Potts (Ph.D. 2003) filed this report:

My wife Kathryn Flack Potts and I spent a chunk of this past summer traveling around southern Africa, and then we packed up and headed west after six years at UMass Amherst. I’m now Associate Professor in Linguistics at Stanford. Kathryn is a research analyst in Stanford’s Institutional Research office and an undergraduate teacher and advisor in Linguistics. A lot of my research these days involves using quantitative corpus methods in pragmatics; my students and I have released a bunch of annotated data sets for doing such work and we’ve got more on the way. I understand that there’s growing interest in such research at UCSC, so I am eager to stay abreast of what you all are up to.
